We develop with a focus on sustainability

The process optimisation of our machinery to reduce energy and water consumption is ensured by an annual quality, environmental and energy programme carried out by TÜV Rheinland; all environmental emissions from production are closely monitored and controlled and further reduced wherever technologically possible.

With the help of our own combined heat and power plant and our photovoltaic solar system, we generate a third of the electrical energy we need ourselves; for the needs of our weaving mill, the figure is even 100%.

We conscientiously separate our waste and feed it into the recycling cycle via a certified company. Textile remnants from production are reused, for example, as efficient insulating materials in the automotive industry or in the construction sector.

The naturally soft water from our own well used for production does not require the addition of chemicals for water softening; the rinsing water is reused several times. At the same time, we save valuable and expensively treated drinking water by using our own resources.

We use production offcuts to actively support forward-looking research and academic projects on upcycling textile materials. For example, the Department of Plastics Engineering at the University of Kassel used our production offcuts to develop a bio-based fibre–plastic composite that could, in future, replace conventional glass fibres in lightweight construction.

We have been committed to reforesting woodlands for several years. As part of a reforestation project in North Rhine-Westphalia, around 50,000 trees were planted in 2024/25. Replanting with 26 different tree species strengthens the forest’s resilience to the impacts of climate change. In total, around 296 tonnes of CO₂ are sequestered each year – equivalent to the average annual CO₂ footprint of roughly 28 people in Germany.
